If you would rather teach smaller groups of pupils, then placing yourself in a learning centre would be the better option.

There are over a hundred learning centres scattered all over Hong Kong. These centres are designed for children who may find learning English difficult, those who want some extra challenge or just to expose themselves more to the English language.

You will find pupils from kindergarten all the way up to secondary school. Some centres will target certain age groups, for example only from primary 1 to 6.

The working hours will be slightly different to that of schools. You would expect yourself to work from the hours of 9AM till 7PM. However, depending on the centre you work for, you may only work 4 weekdays a week, if not it will be 5.
In addition, working on a Saturday is very common. The hours will be from 9AM to 6PM.

The starting salary for a NET working in a learning centre is between $22,000 – $26,000 HKD per month.

What’s more to offer is that you are able to earn extra income, through private tuition which the centres will set you up with. These sessions can offer $300 – $400 HKD per hour.
